Part 1
When I woke up, it seemed unusually quiet. I turned over in my bunk, trying to fall back asleep, but the odd silence kept me awake. Finally I sat up, stretched, and looked around. I was alone in the barracks. I jumped out of my bunk and ran outside to the vehicle storage area. All that was left was my AT-RT, fallen over on its back and on fire. I looked up. There were still Separatist ships in the sky, but no Republic ones. That's why it seemed strangely quiet. For the last couple of days I kept hearing dull thuds from the space battle raging above us. Suddenly I got a really bad feeling something was wrong. I ran back into the barracks yelling,"Guys? Guys? Is anybody in here?" There was no answer. I ran towards the weapon store. Everyone's blasters were gone, except for mine and five thermal detonators. I ran back to my bunk to grab my communicator. It was broken in half. "I knew I landed on something when I fell out of my bunk," I muttered angrily. Now I had no way to contact any Republic forces. I realized the 501st must have left earlier that morning. I had been forgotten and now I was alone on a planet covered with hostile forces. I ran into the supply storage, where we kept our rations. There was just enough left for one meal: my breakfast. I ate quickly (I had not had time to eat dinner the night before), ran into the barracks, put on my armor, ran into the weapons storage, grabbed my blaster, grabbed a backpack, and started throwing detonators into it. Suddenly I heard a noise. I ran towards the exit of the base and stopped before I ran outside. I peered around the edge of the door. Droids were coming into the base! I ran towards the weapon store to grab the backpack filled with detonators but heard the droids entering the barracks. I noticed a remote trigger near the backpack. Suddenly I had an idea. I linked the detonators to trigger when i pressed the button on the remote. Then I ran through the back way into the supply store and through the back door there. Once far enough from the base, I pressed the button. The entire base exploded in a fireball. "Thank you, tibanna-filled plunk droids," I muttered as I ran away from the destroyed base.
Thanks for reading.
Til next time, Greg Olego.
